Storing Stones in Courtyard

E 1 b:
"During the match, it will be possible to store up to 3 stones in the castle courtyard."

What exactly is this rule trying to tell us?

- Are we allowed to only store 3 stones? -> If yes, what happens if we store more?

- Are the three stones protected in our castle yard from stealing?

- something else?

Good evening

The rules says, you can store 3 stone for a future purpose (like build the final wall which close the castle). If you store more, there is the rules of unfair game to reduce the point made.
